Finding structure

One of the most difficult parts of the last year for us has been trying to find structure. In all its forms. Whether it is the structure of our relationships when we can’t see anyone face to face or more about what I will focus on, building structure into our days and the importance of routine. We have encouraged the Livitay team to build structure into their day and most importantly encouraged them to work asynchronously. What does this mean?

Flexibility

We understand the everyone works differently. Maybe you are a night owl or an early bird. Maybe you like a mid-afternoon walk or mid-morning work-out. Importantly, these are the activities that help us keep routine, structure our day, and manage work-life stresses. When life gets tough it is the basics we can fall back on. The simplicities of structure and routine that keep a lot of us from falling off the edge. For the Livitay team, instead of forcing us all to work the same 9–5 hours, we encourage people to structure their day around what they need, take breaks when you want and have the autonomy to live in a way that makes you happiest.

Productivity

Many companies and people ask, but surely that is less productive? When do you have team meetings? Do people abuse their freedoms? The answer is it works brilliantly. We have team meetings that people are required to come to, but we trust the people we hire to operate independently and execute on their tasks.

So when you next think about how you want people to work, why not encourage them to work how is best for them? People know themselves best, so let them structure their day.

Keep going,

Jack
